14th July - Hampton Poyle

The chapter met in St Mary's Church, Hampton Poyle on Monday, 14th July for Guild Office, Sermon & Te Deum on the occasion of the 175th Anniversary of the Oxford Movement. We are grateful to Revd Jim Turner for welcoming the chapter to Hampton Poyle once again and for officiating. In his sermon, Fr Jim spoke about John Keeble and the other founders of the Oxford Movement and compared the church to a ship, with people on board with different experiences and different views of faith yet all travelling together towards a common goal. During the service prayer was offered in thanksgiving for the catholic revival in the Church of England. The service concluded with the Te Deum Laudamus.

Present: Revd Jim Turner, Bros Trevor Langrish, Ken Belcher, Dennis Dean, Stan Godwin, Bruce Armour and Ben Heffer; Srs Susan Greenaway, Jenny Dowdeswell; supporters Barbara Belcher, Mrs Armour, Vera Hurran, Robert Warren, David Murray (organist).

Apologies: Sid Cox.
