The position of Group Councillor for Provincial Group 9 is up for election at the end of this term and chapters in group 9 are invited to put forward nominations.
Cllr Clive Tilling, who has served as Group Councillor for some years is willing to stand again. We are immensely grateful to Cllr Tilling for all his hard work in representing the group 9 chapters on the General Council and his support for our chapter in particular.
Anyone from our chapter wishing to stand for group councillor should contact the chapter secretary in the first instance. Further information on the role is available. In the absence of any other nominations, we will support Cllr Tilling's candidature.
10th November - St Mary Magdalen, Oxford
The chapter met to sing the Guild Office in the beautiful church of St Mary Magdalen on Wednesday, 10th November. Revd William Whyte officiated for the Office and Revd Dr Peter Groves, Vicar of St Mary Magdalen’s, preached and gave Benediction.
Speaking on the eve of Armistice Day and taking remembrance as his theme, Fr Peter reminded us that the Eucharist is the greatest act of remembrance. Later at Benediction, in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament he recalled those who had died in conflict and all the faithful departed, and he read out the names of departed members and supporters from the Chapter Chantry Book.
Our thanks to Fr William and Fr Peter for leading our worship and to Professor David Murray for playing the organ.
Present: Bros. Trevor Langrish, Dennis Dean, Sid Cox, Bruce Armour, Ken Belcher and Ben Heffer; Srs. Angela Dean, Jenny Dowdeswell, Susan Greenaway; Frs William Whyte and Peter Groves; and six supporters.
Apologies: Cllr Clive Tilling.
